Team GB Olympian Julia Bleasdale might have been the star attraction at the Bushy Park parkrun on Saturday, but her time may have had her future husband sweating at the altar.
The 33-year-old Thames Hare & Hounds athlete, who finished eighth in both the 5,000m and 10,000m finals at the London 2012 Games, clocked 17 minutes one second to be the first woman home in the royal park before hot footing it to her own wedding at Hampton Court Palace.
Running with her family, she took her time over the 5km race as she finished three minutes outside her personal best for the event, on her way to fifth place overall.
Cardiff Athletics Club’s Mark Kallenberg triumphed overall ahead of Richmond Park marathon winner Andrius Jaksevicius in second.
