The men’s senior team is mired in a late season slump. With only two games left in the season, the lads are very much playing for pride.

The ladies, on the other hand, are right in the thick of it.

The women’s senior team has had a very good run recently. Last week they took home some valuable silverware when they won the Surrey County Cup, beating Carshalton Athletic Ladies 3-1 in extra time.

The big story from the night was Caz Bisson, the young danger-woman leading the line for the Lady Dons.

She scored the equaliser in the second half of regulation to force extra time, then had a hand in Wimbledon’s second goal.

Wandsworth Times:

Winners: AFC Wimbledon Ladies

Bisson took home not only a winner's medal but player of the match honours. Not a bad night.

Besides the silverware, Wimbledon Ladies are in a real fight as the league season wears down.

The women’s side are in fourth place in the London and South East Women's Regional Football League, seven points behind league leaders Old Actonians with three games remaining.

They got a massive boost this past Wednesday when they notched a solid 3-1 win over KIKK United at Kingsmeadow.

AFC Wimbledon: Ladies turn their fortunes around to bring home the silverware

The opening goal and the eventual gamewinner both came from Bisson.

So, you know, she’s pretty good (heck, can we sign her up for the men’s side?).

Wimbledon Ladies finish out the season with an away day to relegation strugglers Eastbourne on May 3, before back to back fixtures against mid-table outfit London Corinthians.

If they win out, and other results break our way, it’s not inconceivable to see the Dons win the league.

In what has generally been a good season for the club, the ladies side may end up providing some of the most compelling end-of-term drama.
