A woman walking home after a night out was pushed against a wall and sexually assaulted.

The 20-year-old woman’s attacker, a man in his late 20s, was "disturbed by a passing car" and ran off, police say.

The alleged attack took place on Sunday, December 12, at about 2am. The woman had been walking with a friend before each went their separate way.

As the victim walked down Orlando Road towards Battersea she noticed someone was walking behind her.

A man grabbed her and assaulted her, before he was disturbed. He ran in the direction of Clapham Old Town and she was left “traumatised”, the Metropolitan Police said.

The attack was later reported to police by a relative and the victim was taken to a sexual assault referral centre.

The man is described as white, about 25-30 years old. He was clean shaven and wearing a black hooded top and dark blue jeans.

A police spokesman said: "There are a number of pubs and bars in and around the Clapham High Street area and at the time the incident occurred there would have a number of people leaving various venues to make their way home.

"Detectives are appealing for anyone who remembers seeing anyone matching the description the man police are seeking to trace to get in contact."
