A Wandsworth firefighter has set himself 40 challenges to complete before his 40th birthday after his girlfriend suffered a stroke.
Darren Long, 39, is raising money for the Stroke Association after his girlfriend, Chantelle, had a stroke at just 27 years old.
He said: "When Chantelle had a stroke I was terrified. It was a huge shock to all of us, but as we all expected, Chantelle was so determined to beat her stroke, and has continued to work tirelessly on her physiotherapy. "
A launch night for his challenges will take place on Friday, February 6, at Grand Union bar, Wandsworth High Street, where he and others will shave their heads.
